Not only was all of the work done professionally and competently, they are very easy to deal with on the back end with the invoice.I highly recommend Roof Rescue!!Iโm pretty sure they do more than just roofs, too.Anything construction related, Iโd give them a call, too, as I had to pivot to something non-roof related, and they were able to handle it seamlessly.
This Ethel home had an older gray shingle roof with a busy layout: an eight-sided hip section, a second-story bay, and a low metal roof over the porch. Roof Rescue tore it down to the deck, rebuilt the section that had rotted out, and put the whole roof back together in a single install day.
Up close, the shingles had weathered flat and at least one spot had broken open, with splintered wood showing through the hole. That is the kind of damage a patch can cover for a while, but it does not tell you what is happening to the wood underneath.
Once the old shingles came off, the section running along the metal porch roof did not hold up. The crew cut it out down to the rafters, and the photos show darkened, deteriorated wood and the insulation below exposed to open air.
That section was rebuilt with new OSB sheets fastened to the framing before anything else went back on. New shingles do not hold well in wood in that condition, so it had to be fixed while the roof was open.
With the deck solid again, the crew covered it in TriBuilt synthetic underlayment. Synthetic lies flat, sheds water while the roof is open, and stands up to foot traffic over a long summer install day. The scope also called for ice and water shield in the valleys and transitions, where water concentrates.
The finished roof is CertainTeed Landmark, a dimensional architectural shingle, in Georgetown Gray. The eight-sided hip section means eight hip lines meeting at one peak, and each one was capped with Shadow Ridge hip and ridge shingles so the lines run clean into the top.
Where the new shingle roof runs into the low metal porch roof, the crew measured the edge along the metal as the last courses went on. Transitions like this are where leaks tend to start, so it got the same attention as the main field.
The roof came to roughly 16 squares of material. Materials were picked up that morning, and the tear-off, deck repair, dry-in and shingles all happened the same day, with the finished roof photographed that evening.
